back from Brisbane . Australia.
from the cooling weather that i am missing now
my camera died. i dropped it on the floor AND THE lens crooked
not going to repair it. but buying a new one =)
reality shelf-checked. i simply love going overseas .
learned lots of things along the way.
and i am goin to write it down before i forget. not the events
but the thoughts that i gained.
had lots of mixed feelings along the way. especially seeing some of them bothered by relationship. got to know in some of the situtation and helped out. brought back lots of painful memories . =(. thanks for all those who are willing to listen to me =)
and yes. those juniors who never fail to take care of me when i fell so sick on the last night. i had a horrifying throat infection that day. and after i took medicine . a fever came when i was busying packing up the instruments.
firstly,
thanks to all the great juniors.
i can't simply name all. but let's start with a few.
people in the same bus with me.
Peck Joon. Nadia Soh. Charlotte. and coz many more
candy and qianling who i could always talk to .
especially our dearest ahboy , Derrick. haha
who never seems to cheer me up whenever i am not in good mood.
its great to see my juniors learning new things. not only in musical knowledge but also widening their horizons and experiences of another country's culture and lifestyle even though they were still at a young age.
one thing about this trip that i was very happy with was that we stayed in serviced apartments.
not only i was able to experience how a service apartment works in a another country, it also allows the kids to be able to try to experience how they could manage a house at least in a week without their parents.
coz in hotel it is small and not much can be done. but for this, it is a apartment equipped with dryer, washing machine and kitchen with microwave and even a over !. some kids even got upgraded to a penthhouse equipped with jacuzzi. =)
through this trip. they must learn how to keep the apartment neat and tidy as there wont be any housekeeping services till they check-out.
some funny issues like dont know how to opearate the aircon control and toaster and egg exploding in the mircowave oven (yes that happened in my apartment's kitchen) sends me great laughter and on top of theses funny moments, the kids gained more knowledge and lifeskill. =)
through the trip. although i am like a 20 year old soon mixing around with kids from 13 -15 years. i feel leftout at times but they never fail to amuse me with their presence and their cheerfulness which i think i lacked during my age then.
i realised that kids nowadays are more resourceful and dare to voice out their opinion especially in BGR issues. yes . i do not understand why must certain ppl appose relationship. i understand that they are still young. but as long as it doesnt affect their studies i think they should be not a problem. the more you prevent it . the more rebel. so just monitor and play be ear . isnt it ?
its like a learning stage for them. after at they are still young.
the musical workshops ,exchange and masterclasses. not only they learned more knowledge. even i was also inspired. it is always great seeing them making music. although as much as i want to . i could not longer. so it is always great to see them making music with great performances.
i was never a good band member, a good section-mate and a good fellow bandmate to the band , the instrutor and the teacher back in the good old days. and was never a good adminstrator back in the alumni band. but. i can be a good audience now.
this trip . i really enjoyed myself. it is always my wish to travel around the world learning and experience new things. and also great to see the kids, whom i treat most of them like younger sisters and brothers, learning a lot along the way.
in one way or another . i do hope that my entry might be seen by the staffs in my alma-mater. that OPWO not only spend money to bring them overseas. it is all the experience and knowledge that they gain through hands on experience that will last time for a lifetime. isn't this what education is all about ?
back to singapore . back to reality
12 June.
lots of things coming up.
Need to go back to Malaysia for wedding dinner on this weekend.
Parents going overseas next week ( i can't wait)
NAPFA.
and NS
need to start planning my time .
meanwhile
That's all folks =)
P.S. : when the term 'ahboy' was used to call Derrick that day. lots of emotions and mixed feelings i encountered. i was nicknamed ahboy back when i was a intern in Raffles Hotel Butler. especially when the kids started calling me Ivan (coz some saw my organizer and stared calling me that) .i really missed those days when ppl calling me ahboy ahboy and ivan . the great ppl. the working enviornment that i liked. i started to wonder and realised the meaning of regret. i regret the wrong move that i took. i missed out the chance to be back with the wonderful team back there. the great ppl like faizal. wenting . ivy . terence .fiona. lydia. and manymore. thanks for everything back then.
